Our History

  • 1940

    Grady Arnold originated accounting firm in Jackson. Originally the firm consisted of an attorney and CPA until later when ethics rules required separate practices.

  • 1946

    William P. Alexander, Jr. returned from WWII and opened an accounting firm in Dyersburg, TN.

  • 1950

    Jimmy Thompson managed offices in Union City, Martin and Memphis. After his death, the firm acquired offices in Paris, McKenzie, Trenton, Milan and Fulton, KY.

  • 2007

    ATA merged and created ATA Technologies providing their clients complete financial and technical coverage.

  • 2008-Present

    Jackson Sun’s recipient of annual Reader’s Choice Awards for “Best Accounting Firm”.

  • 2015

    INSIDE Public Accounting’s recognizes nationally ATA as a Top 200 Accounting Firm.
    American City Business Journal names ATA as ninth largest firm in Tennessee.

  • 2016

    IPA recognizes nationally ATA as a Top 200 Accounting Firm.

  • TODAY

    ATA has 21 partners and offices located in Dyersburg, Henderson, Jackson, Martin, McKenzie, Memphis, Milan, Nashville, Paris, Trenton, Union City, TN and Murray, KY and membership with BDO Alliance.
